Well hello!

I’m an artistic designer working across objects, installations and disciplines. My work takes on heavy subjects — value, (social) class, feminism and climate — with a conceptual, tongue-in-cheek attitude.

Rather than offering solutions, I create conversation pieces: works that question, provoke and linger. I’m interested in design as a form of soft resistance — where humour, discomfort and beauty coexist.

I started my career as a make-up artist before graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2014 (Man & Leisure, tutor Irene Fortuyn). For years, I collaborated closely with Fortuyn on her long-term research project Tuinbazen and within her foundation Ketter & Co. Alongside this, I worked for nearly a decade as a freelance designer and art director.

Since 2024, I run my independent studio LOKBI enterprises, producing limited-edition works only.

My name is Liesje Lokbi. I work from Amsterdam. Always open to conversations, collaborations and ideas that don’t fit neatly into boxes.
